Bill Peet's love of elelphants began as a child when he first saw them in a circus. " With all the years of sketching and painting the circus I was well prepared to work on Dumbo...", he said in his autobiography. Elephants are main characters in four of his books, Ella, Encore for Eleanor, The Ant and the Elephant, and Hubert's Hair-Raising Adventure. | ||
Bill Peet spent many hours at circuses when they came to town, sketching every thing about them, especially the animals.
