SUSIE THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE

SUSIE IN SHOWROOM

After the making of Susie, my father bought a sky blue Studebaker convertible (below) with Bill and sons.

It was one of those with a nose that looked like it should have a propeller on the front. It was the first car I learned to drive.

When we moved, the Studebaker's little engine didn't have enough power to make it up the hill to our new house.

Bill Peet, Jr.

According to the book "The Art of Cars" (Copyright by Disney Enterprises), Bill Peet's story of Susie was part of the inspiration for director John Lasseter's 2006 animated film "Cars".

Bill Peet made a short storyboard to present his idea to Walt Disney for consideration.
